In case you didn’t know, the World Series of Poker is under way in Vegas, all 742 events of it (estimated). Former car dealer and current private investor — not to mention Horatio Award Alger winner — Carl Westcott played in the charity tournament Ante Up for Africa, placed third, and won about $100,000. My kinda charity. (Poker-blogging Dan Michalski has a Flickr set of the event, including a few shots of Westcott.) Also, keep an eye on Randy “The Big Randy” Brown. He’s a friend of mine from high school, a member of our home game, and currently in 21st place in the $10k event. Go, TBR. (Note: If you click on Randy’s name, you get a different Randy. Either WSOP officials can’t keep their Randy’s straight, or TBR Randy is executing a brilliant egg roll, which is a term you need not worry yourself with as of yet.)
