You may have noticed over the past year or two or four that I’ve been more than a little dismissive of Blockbuster, what with it being an anachronistic business model and stubborn dinosaur and all. But that was the old Blockbuster, under the overpaid (but still not paid enough, if you ask him) leadership of CEO John Antioco. Today, the company announced its new CEO is former 7-Eleven guru Jim Keyes. It’s a new day at Blockbuster, and it just might be sunny.
