While this post might look like a “Leading Off,” it isn’t. Not at all. It’s just some business quick hits that merit mention. For instance:
1. Mannatech is working on some “new initiatives.” You know, the kind of initiatives that don’t get the Attorney General all up in their grill about illegal-marketing-this and unlawful-sales-practices-that.
2. Barron’s is stingy with the freebie preview, but it looks like a good story about the Egyptian who has his eye on cement-maker Texas Industries (TXI). It begins: “AN EGYPTIAN CONSTRUCTION MAGNATE has cemented his stake in Texas Industries just after shares of the cement and aggregates producer soared to an all-time high.” “Cemented.” Ha.
3. Congrats to Tony Creme on his promotion at Hillwood. It seems like only yesterday the Orleans Parish DA dropped the second-degree battery charges against him for allegedly getting into an altercation with a 72-year-old retired radiologist.
