Bard’s Labors Almost Lost

|

Remember that song at the end of Twelfth Night? The one that goes “For the rain it raineth every day”? Shakespeare Dallas has been so beset with bad weather this summer that they’re already $25,000 in the red, because their usual patrons have stayed away and at least four productions have had to be canceled altogether. (Check out their Rain Campaign.)

So as the weather clears up (cue Prospero), I hope every FrontBurnervian will get out to Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre waving wine bottles (discreetly) and lots of cash. Both Romeo and Juliet and Love’s Labour’s Lost are very good this summer. In particular, Jenny Ledel as Juliet gets the teenage gawkiness-in-transition perfectly and Steven Walters as Mercutio has left every critic I know astonished.
