RE: RACK ‘EM

By Adam McGill |

A food-and-beverage-serving FrontBurnervian applauds the City Council’s measure:

I applaud the city for actually doing anything to help downtown appear cleaner! Most of the racks that are on the streets in downtown are dirty, damaged and disgusting. The “free” papers are the worst! I see the homeless hiding beer and liquor bottles in them more than I see people using the papers. As a business in downtown I have to clean up of the “free” press in front of my door every morning. This could not happen fast enough!

I tend to agree that well-designed uniformity does wonders for an urban environment. It’s like a living room where all the furniture matches. But the emphasis has to be on “well-designed.”
