ONE BREAST STROKE AWAY FROM BECOMING MRS. ROSS PEROT, JR

|

The other morning, I posted my nightmare. In it, I mentioned I grew up, well lived, on Prestoncrest in North Dallas. A FrontBurnervian’s grandparents lived there as well, but I don’t remember them. However, my mother, the family grammarian and historian, e-mailed to remind me of our neighbors, Ross and Margot Perot, who lived behind us on Linden Lane. At the time (l954 to l963), Linden Lane was the last street in North Dallas. Behind it was a field where I rode my horse. Of course that field is now LBJ. Anywhoo, mommy dearest reminds me:

How could you forget that you took swimming lessons at the Hart’s house up the street with Ross Perot, Jr? Margot and I used to sit poolside and discuss books while we waited for your lesson to end.

Mother, I was four! Did you not understand the principle of arranged marriage? IJS.
