Feargal McKinney has been keeping his new restaurant on the DL. Tecolé Taco House will open across the street from his Idle Rich, in the old Lulu’s Bait Shack spot, tomorrow. “How did you hear about it?” he asked. “Did one of my wait staff at the Old Monk tell you?” As if I would ever go to the Old Monk. I don’t even know where the place is. Nor has anyone on staff ever darkened the door of the Old Monk.
Anyhoo, here’s the skinny on Tecolé: McKinney tapped former Mansion chef de cuisine Ian Beach to run the kitchen. The two have known each other for a long time, since back when Beach was a customer at the Dubliner. David Allen, the GM of the Idle Rich, will be McKinney’s boots on the ground. Both Beach and Allen will have part ownership of the joint.
