EAT ORGANIC, SEND A KID TO CAMP

|

Not just any kid, a child with a life-threatening disease. Today, all six Whole Foods Markets in the DFW area are donating 5 percent of their sales to special-needs campers. This one-day effort is expected to raise enough money to put 135 children through the company’s “Happy Campers” program. One of my five perfect nieces is diabetic. She attends Camp Sweeney, just outside Gainesville. Her first year at CS, where educational programs are combined with the usual camp activities, changed her outlook on dealing with her disease. It’s a powerful force to be among peers who are also medically challenged. While you’re at Whole Foods, bring me a couple (thousand) boxes of Dr. Krackers. Thanks. My kids in the office will be happy.
