DALLAS FILMMAKERS AT SMITHSONIAN IN JULY

|

Dallas-based Rich-Heape Films (Steve Heape/Chip Richie) unveils its award-winning documentary, Trail of Tears: Cherokee Legacy at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in DC starting this Sunday, July 1, and running through July 8. Rich-Heape is Native American-owned (Heape is a member of Cherokee Nation) and the two-hour film is endorsed by the Cherokee Nation. It’s presented by Wes Studi, narrated by James Earl Jones, and features voices of James Garner, Crystal Gayle and others. The Dallas filmmakers’ next release, Boarding Schools, addresses the forced assimilation of Native American children. Worthy stuff.
