Most young officers can’t afford a house and there is a lack of affordable housing in Dallas. Once they have kids schools are the primary motivating factor in where folks live. Whether the perception is true or not DISD schools won’t make the cut for most young families. Most New York cops live outside the city and they managed to cut crime by using COMSTAT to deploy their forces and having enough officers to do the job.
To which I say: whatever. I’m not going to let facts get in the way of my brilliant plan.
