The first commercial (as far as I know) ran last night on CBS11 during the 10 p.m. news slot. It may have run on the others but I wasn’t watching them. In it, Leppert introduces himself as a common man who worked as a janitor at school to help his mother with the bills. He’s wearing a comfortable sweater and a comfortable smile, and seems like a really nice guy. It is a soft-introduction ad, meant to establish name ID and a warm, fuzzy feeling. Expect a blitz: he’s got the money and as a total unknown, he’s going to need to spend every dime of it. It’s interesting that the ad made no mention of the fact that he’s one of the most successful CEOs in the country.
UPDATE: Uncle Barky informs me: “…the Leppert ads started Tuesday night and have been running on three of the four major stations — NBC5, Belo8, CBS11.”
