Unemployment is already at near-record lows in Texas, which is one of the reasons cited in the February cover story on why Dallas needs undocumented illegal immigrant aliens, or whatever we’re calling them this week. (“Carlos” seems to work, in my limited experience. That, or they’re just having me on.)

Anyway, now comes word from the brainiacs and prognosticators at the Dallas Fed that employment in Texas grew 3 percent in 2006, with much of that coming from…wait for it… construction. What does this all mean? No idea. But I do know this — when there’s a demand in the marketplace, no amount of government regulation will stop someone else from supplying it.
