THERE IS A RESTAURANT GOD

By Nancy Nichols |

One of my favorite people, who is also lots of people’s favorite chef, has resurfaced. Mynetta Cockerell, for years the talent behind the gourmet department at Marty’s (R.I.P.), is now retooling the food at Empire Bakery. She’s not messin’ with the bread, she’s creating new sandwiches, salads, dips, etc. Want to catch up with her? She’s working out of the Inwood and Lover’s location. BTW, those of us too old to accept the DMN buyout package remember when this area was the hottest restaurant row in Dallas. Looks like it’s back. Lordy, I saw pedestrians in the area last night.
