A media-minded FrontBurnervian shared her research last night about the Cingular outage.
I just interviewed one of the regional managers of Cingular. The wireless outage wasn’t caused by heavy rain in El Paso. In fact, wireless customers in El Paso are some of the few in the state that actually have service.
Cingular says there’s a problem with the main switching system that routes calls from Texas to Washington. They don’t know the exact cause, but they do say that bad weather in one area couldn’t cause such a statewide problem. People CAN still text message because data services haven’t been effected. Cingular crews are trying to fix the trouble, but don’t know when it will be repaired.
Cingular users know service is back up. Finally.
