A bird-loving FrontBurnervian does a good job of recapping the recent accident that has yet to be commented upon on this here Web page. If you don’t know which accident I’m talking about, it’s the one involving a rolled-over truck full of penguins, fish, and various critters. More, after the jump.
I know you all have important ideas to present, being in Dallas and all, but given Nancy’s interest in all things bird, I am surprised she hasn’t let you in on the penguin saga out here in East Texas. Maybe the medication? Well, two trucks transporting various creatures form the Indianapolis zoo to Galveston’s Moody Gardens passed though this area and one happened to roll over, releasing and/or killing many of the critters aboard. Most of the fish, some birds, and one penguin was killed in the crash, and several penguins were run over by passing cars (I know it’s sad, but can you picture the expressions on the faces of those drivers just before they hit the penguins?), but 21 penguins survived with minor or no injuries. We had TV reports with daily follow ups on the nightly news for several days and all surviving penguins made it to Galveston in a refrigerated truck. The police reportedly were grateful that the 2nd truck carrying snakes and crocodiles didn’t roll over.
