RE: THE BISHOP RESIGNS

|

Give me no credit for predicting Charles Grahmann’s resignation: it’s canon law. But the interesting thing in today’s Jeffrey Weiss and Brooks Egerton story was the bishop’s stated desire to “go fishing.” Only a few months ago diocesan officials were saying the bishop would stay on for a few years more. Methinks he got word that the Vatican would move quickly and he ought to put the best face he could on it. Even though my editorial said it would take six months or so, the word I’m getting now is September. In this Vatican officials are at one with their Dallas flock: they want the man gone.
