KABOOM TOWN BUST

|

For those of us who ventured out Monday to ooh and ahh over the Kaboom Town fireworks in Addison, the night did not go off without a hitch. Here is the only news account of the evening I could find. But it doesn’t help much. First off, anyone who tried to navigate the traffic in Addison after the fireworks could tell you that more than 100,000 went to see the show. Maybe 100k showed up to watch from the official viewing area, wherever that was. But spread out on the streets and parking lots around the Addison Airport there must have been five times that many people.

Bigger question is why the fireworks show got cut short. Channel 5’s story says a storm cell developed over Addison during the fireworks. Which is true. It rained for about the first half of the show–but then the rain let up. During the last part of the show, it was only drizzling. So why didn’t they shoot off the grand finale?
