Tales of woe at the DMN have become so commonplace as to be boring at this point, but I nonetheless feel compelled to share that, at noon, a meeting commenced with the arts staff and a couple of the bigs, topics of discussion to include the decision to hatchet a third of the staff, and a push for more “local” coverage, which means that layoffs, er, buyouts are aimed at any staffer who covers national stuff such as, say, film or TV.
