A nature-observing FBvian who also may be in the witness protection program says our Elizabeth Lavin isn’t the only one who’s seen large, fur-bearing critters:

About a year ago, we were on our way to church on a cool, drizzly Sunday morning when a large animal darted out of a greenbelt area and ran across a major 6-lane divided road in the heart of a northern suburb. (I’m being intentionally vague on location.) At first we thought it was a dog or a deer, then we recognized it as a large cat. After we got back home, we searched the internet for pics of large cats and all agreed it had to be a cougar.
