TEACHING THE BIBLE

|

Lake Highland H.S. principal Bob Iden is thinking of introducing an elective on the Bible. I applaud him. The Bible contains the foundational stories of our culture, and in the King James Version the foundation of all our literature. Not surprisingly, I have an idea for him: the wonderful Ernest Sutherland Bates’ edition entitled The Bible Designed to be Read as Living Literature, which I had the honor of editing and updating back in 1992. Best news: it can be had on Amazon for the special low price of $2.74.
