REPUBLICANS-IN-NAME-ONLY

|

A couple of conservative FBvians–yes, my people–have asked why I’m so hard on poor Pete Sessions. In his case, it’s the flagrant hypocrisy of his direct-mail solicitation. But besides the overspending and waste since the GOP took over Congress, there’s also the swamp of corruption into which these so-called Republicans seem to have dived, as exemplified by this story yesterday in the Washington Post. Speaker Dennis Hastert is now threatening to sue the Sunlight Foundation, which originally exposed his suspect real estate dealings. I hope he does. I think the national press, and perhaps the Justice Department, would be very interested in reading the depositions of Speaker Hastert under the grilling of a good defense attorney.

UPDATE: I call them Republicans-In-Name-Only because they have succumbed to the culture established by guys like Rep. John Murtha, otherwise known as Democrats.
