I wouldn’t really call it a “retraction.” The Post printed a statement from Cuban:
BUNGALOW BOZOS CAN’T COUNT
MARK Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, quibbled with some of the details in our story yesterday about how he couldn’t get into Bungalow 8 the other night, and then went to Pink Elephant and Scores West. Here is his statement: “The party I was with wanted to go to Bungalow 8, I didn’t. I gave the doorman 100 bucks to check to see if we could get in. Door people work hard and deserve tips. I guess people who aren’t smart enough to figure that out work at Bungalow 8, which explains how they got $100 confused with $1,000. But they shouldn’t feel bad, the folks down the street [at Scores West] are worse. I didn’t buy a drink, and they thought I spent $5,000 on champagne. I guess it shows how boring New York nightlife has gotten. Without glamour, fun and excitement, you have to make stuff up.” We’re sorry you didn’t have a better time in our fair city, Mr. Cuban.
Cuban thinks New York nightlife is lousy? Surely I’ve misread this.
