Checking out the demographic section in DallasIndicators.com, I found this interesting fact from the 2000 Census: In the Dallas area, residents reporting German ancestry outnumber those reporting English ancestry by 351,519 to 288,097 (we poor Scots are a measly 59,726). This German dominance reminds me that when the first huge wave of German immigrants started arriving in the post-Revolutionary period, Benjamin Franklin was so alarmed that he warned English was in danger of disappearing as the national language.
