Today at the News, meetings will take place wherein employees will be reassured that the layoffs at the Belo-owned Riverside paper are not a precursor to similar moves at the News. Also on the agenda will be the new consultants. According to an internal memo that found its way to me, the News has “employed a company to study the journalism needs of our core readers, which will help us decide where and how to deploy the newsroom.”
I can’t summon the snark necessary to comment on this. I can’t do it this morning. It feels too much like poking fun at the kids on the short bus. It just ain’t right.
