BIRD FLU NEWS YOU CAN USE

|

Didn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t watch “Fatal Contact,” the bird flu TV movie on Channel 8 last night, but it was hard to miss given the station’s shameless efforts to hook it into its news programming. Big media thumbs down.

But maybe not all the staffers were so crazy about the promo-ing. On the 5 o’clock news, one of the reporters who had seen a sneak preview (I’m thinking Clockwork Orange, Malcolm McDowell strapped in a chair with eyelids taped open, forced to watch mental rehab film) gave the production the ultimate kiss-off: “I have to say, it’s a drama.” Pause. Then, getting back the company line, “…and frightfully realistic.”

And Waterworld is the gold standard for marine evolution theory.
