RE: HAVE MERCY

Okay. Until I hear any new developments in the case of the abused pit bull, I’m going to hold off on posting missives from the FB Nation. Starting after this post here. After the jump, a few thoughts from dog-loving FrontBurnervians.

Couldn’t help but respond to this since I saw Mercy on television this morning. As the owner of two very spoiled and very precocious Labs, I’d like to have a crack at whoever did that to Mercy. Suffice to say, I wouldn’t stop at simply setting them on fire, though that would be a first step to make sure they feel some of the same pain they inflicted on that poor creature.

If you would be kind to enough to also share this to fellow FB readers, it would be most appreciated:

If you are a somewhat petite brunette woman in her early 20’s who drives a red Honda Accord coupe with Oklahoma license plates and a Baylor sticker in the rear window and was headed into Palm Beach Tan at the northwest corner of Parker Road and the Tollway last night at approximately 615PM, SHAME ON YOU!

I was parked directly in front of you and saw you leave your Chihuahua in the car with the windows and sunroof BARELY cracked. Never mind the fact that it was approximately 98 degrees last night. Never mind the fact that your poor little dog could have died in a short amount of time while you were treating yourself to a fake tan.

And, SHAME ON YOU to everyone who was working at Palm Beach Tan at this location last night. You all acted like you had no idea who I was talking about, although she has entered your business only five minutes earlier. SHAME ON YOU for being so callous with regard to a small dog who was clearly suffering in the heat of an almost completely closed up car.

Yes, it was me who phoned the Plano police and turned you in. I hope you were given a huge fine and had your precious Chihuahua taken from you. You obviously do not know how to treat your dog. Maybe you should be made to sit in the car with the windows rolled up when it’s 98 degrees outside.

Sorry to rant a bit there, but it just amazes me how incredibly STUPID and without redemption so many people are. Going to the fake and bake is obviously more important than taking care of a small dog. Just take one look at poor Mercy to see how completely without redemption some people are. It just makes me sick.

And,

I own a Pit Bull and I can understand how people can be afraid of them. nine times out of ten it the in the training, not the dog. I do feel bad for anyone that has been attacked by one, lets face it the stories are all over the place, but they are also loyal and when trained properly are fantastic pets, unfortunately that is not always the case. Doesn’t mean we should set them on fire.

And,

In response to the FrontBurnervian who wrote, “….I like dogs, have a dog, but those pit bulls do a lot of damage to people.”, In my opinion, people do a lot of damage to those pitt bulls. To some people, these dogs are a “status symbol” and are trained and bred to be aggressive. By people. “Mercy” was brought in to the clinic I work at and kept over the weekend after she was turned in to Operation Kindness. Initially she was muzzled while she was bathed and the Dr did the examination. We soon discovered that she was very gentle, trusting and submissive. Frankly, I would be more concerned about being attacked by a Chihuahua than a pitt bull. Just my opinion.

What’s up with all the Chihuahuas?
