Cutting the fat at the top. Reorganizing the system. The DISD superintendant is doing some good work. And burried in the story is this nugget about Hinojosa’s newly formed foundation to raise private funds for the district:

It’s not uncommon for public school districts to form non-profit fundraising groups. However, DISD doesn’t have one.”

Of the 30 largest school districts in the nation, we’re the only one without a foundation,” Dr. Hinojosa said.
