DOUBLE WIDE WILL BE DOUBLY MISSED

By Adam McGill |

Double Wide, the kitschy bar on the edge of Deep Ellum, has closed its doors. Not only was it more than suitable drinking establishment, it was a darn fine music venue. In the official announcement, owner Jim Siebert said, “It’s not necessary to regurgitate the issues Deep Ellum business holders face, but you just get to a point where you have to take a step back and make the best decision even though it’s not easy. My initial plan was to locate a new venue and make a seamless transition, but that venue hasn’t presented itself yet so we’re going to go ahead and say last call to a great run.” The owner is supposedly looking for space “further north.” I hope it’s not too north.
