DEPT. OF MELODRAMA

|

By now, everyone knows about Mercy, the dog that was stabbed and set on fire. It died Sunday. My sense is that people aren’t having a hard time summoning outrage and idignation over this story. Last night on the Ticket, for instance, the guys on the “Hardline” suggested that justice called for the perp himself to be tortured.

So last night, Channel 5’s Randy McIlwain draws the short straw and has to do the dead Mercy story. He reaches into his news bag and pulls out the following line:

If there’s a heaven for dogs, the Lord has Mercy.
