In last night’s 10:30 p.m. Channel 8 News broadcast, John McCaa had just finished a segment on Queen Elizabeth turning 80 when co-anchor Gloria Campos gave this wonderful segue: “And speaking of queens, here’s Dale Hansen!” McCaa and everyone else in the studio exploded into laughter, and a flustered Campos fumbled with a “sport of kings” reference since Dale was on a remote at his second home, the Lone Star Park racetrack. (Note to Gloria: the “sport of kings” is polo, not horse-racing. Horse racing is the “Sport of Hard-drinking Sportswriters.”) Hansen, master of self-promotion, used almost all of his four minutes to interview his new radio partner, Randy Galloway. Hansen left KTCK 1310 AM The Ticket in a huff last week to join Galloway on ESPN Radio, 103.3 FM.
