Another Fandango-appreciating FrontBurnervian chimes in:
Fandango isn’t just a great Male Chick Flick — for my money, it’s one of the best movies about Texas that was actually shot all over Texas. The Texas Film Commission lists Austin (the Groovers party scene), Monahans (where the Groovers try to hook their Cadillac up to a train) , Pecos (the sky diving scene) and El Paso (the wedding scene) as locations where the movie was shot in 1983. I’d hazard a guess that Big Bend National Park was where “Dom” was dug up and that Truman landed his Piper Cub somewhere in Dallas near 635, but that could have been Austin. And I seem to remember that Fort Davis was listed in the credits as a location too.
I’m so comforted to find all of these Fandango fans. Let us all consider ourselves the fifth Groover. (Or at least drink until we find ourselves in a similar state.)
