RE: DMN’S LOCAL COVERAGE

By reid |

An “eye-rolling” FrontBurnervian weighs in on the “Cue Cat”-like sensibility that permeates the new “Neighbors” section:

I share your unbridled enthusiasm for the new DMN Neighbors coverage. It’s a complete joke and I wonder who is minding the store there. For example, take a look at the DMN home page and go to the ‘Local’ link in the top left menu. It will expand to a list that includes ‘City-to-City,’ which features different combinations of cities and neighborhoods than “Neighbors” does. Additionally, when you link to ‘Irving’ via City-to-City, you get a Neighbors News Section. When you link to ‘Richardson/Lake Highlands’ via City-to-City, you do not have a Neighbors News section. And, no matter what 2 similar/same metro areas you compare, the stories are different! I have never seen such a jacked up mess in my life. It’s almost as if there are 2 families living on opposite sides of a double-wide shotgun and they never talk to each other!

And, when I suggested via email to the Richardson Neighbors editor that Lake Highlands was not Richardson and why was the name not listed in the new Neighbors section, he punted, said the decision was made before he got there, forwarded my email to Bob Mong, and nothing has happended since.
