CHANNEL 8: STANDING AT ATTENTION

|

Am I the only one who is just now noticing this? Last night I watched the 10 o’clock newscasts for the first time in a week or so. And everyone at Channel 8 was standing. They’ve got a new set, and presumably it features an anchor desk someplace, but they sure weren’t eager to use it.

There’s Jeff Brady! Standing! And Gloria Campos, too! Look, no chairs! They throw it to Pete Delkus at the start of the newscast. Pete is lounging on the weather desk. Then comes Dale Hansen’s sportscast. Thankfully, he’s sitting. But when a technical glitch ruins the end of his segment, he quips, “Maybe if I stand up, it’ll work better.”

I doubt it, Dale.
