House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was indicted today on charges of conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme. The ultimate political bully, DeLay will have to step down from his position as Majority Leader and deal with his nemesis, Austin prosecutor Ronnie Earle. The news had to be some consolation to one native Dallasite, Highland Park HS grad Chris Bell, who is now running as a Democrat for Texas Governor. Bell made national headlines last year when, as a first term U.S. Congressman from Houston, he filed an ethics complaint against DeLay, who promptly engineered Bell’s defeat the next election.
