CRYSTAL BALL: KIM JONG IL FOR STRONG MAYOR?

|

Look up Dallas in the popular online encyclopedia called Wikipedia and you’ll find that Big D has three distinct “districts and communities”: Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, and Koreatown. Huh? Did you know we even had a Koreatown? Well, apparently we do. It’s the ramshackle neighborhood along Northwest Highway at 35, near Royal & Harry Hines that used to be mostly strip clubs and seedy dives. Now it’s “thriving” Korean businesses that are “revitalizing” the neighborhood. My favorite line is the observation: “Very few Korean Americans actually reside in the Dallas Koreatown, despite the concentration of Korean American commercial enterprises there, but rather live elsewhere in the two cities or in their many suburbs.”
