LARRY ALLEN WATCH, DAY 3

|

The Cowboy’s highest paid player failed his conditioning test on Friday, which means he couldn’t participate in team drills on Saturday or Sunday. Instead, he’s working with a trainer to get, ahem, up to speed.

It does seem a little unnecessary for a 6’3″, 325-pound guard to run those 300-yard drills in under 60 seconds, but I’m guessing that his “media guide” weight comes in well under the actual figure. But Jerry Jones didn’t seem too bothered by it yesterday. He told Dale Hansen that he and Allen had stood on the sidelines together watching running back Julius Jones work out and talking about the outlook for the o-line this year. Then Jerry mentioned apropos of nothing, “Larry can bench more than 700 pounds.” Now that’s a lineman.
