CITYPLACE CRIME RING

|

I always find myself going to the show at Cityplace 14 movie theatre. I never really want to because it always ends up in disaster. Once, my girlfriend’s car window got bashed in. The seats are usually sticky. Ew. And I don’t like crowds all that much. But, it is close to my apartment and they never catch me when I sneak in liters of Coke and pounds of Hot Tamales. So, I see it as a compromise. But, after reading this email, I am going to consider driving the extra couple miles to Highland Park Village. Crazy crime ring after the jump.

Yesterday, Sunday, August 7 at 2 p.m. my 18 year old niece was targeted for a crime at the City Place Theaters on Central Expressway. She and a girlfriend went to a matinee. When they sat down in the theater she and her friend placed their purses between their feet and proceeded to watch the movie. While they were watching the movie, police surmise, someone crawled on the floor behind their seats, stole their purses, took the car keys out of her purse and stole her car. Police believe she was picked by her assailants as she parked her car and walked into the theater. In broad daylight, unbeknownst to her, she was followed into the theater. This is chilling! Fortunately, she was unaware of the crime and did not fight the theifs. The most disturbing aspect of this crime is that the police told my niece that this happens “all the time” at City Place and they believe they have a crime ring working this theater. Most people already know not to go to City Place after dark, but this adds a whole new level of concern. Where is the security in this parking lot? What needs to happen before City Place steps up and addresses the crime at this location? I just wanted to let each of you know about this so you can protect yourselves and your families.
