Last week I passed along this item about the local connections to China’s attempt to purchase Unocal. In the current issue of The New Yorker, a story on the same subject includes this in the opening graf:
Representative Joe Barton said that the deal “poses a clear threat to the energy and national security of the United States.”
You can bet that if a provocative quote from Barton appears that high in a story, the author is going to spend the rest of the time debunking him. And that’s exactly what author James Surowieki does.
