One of our very talented freelancers is a photographer named Lonnie Erickson. If you see him, you will immediately think, “Wow, he looks a lot like a young (meaning skinnier) Jerry Garcia.” At a photoshoot yesterday a young woman went up to Lonnie and said just that. And Lonnie replied, “Yeah, I get that all the time. You know what’s weird? My brother is the doctor [in Marin County, CA] who signed Jerry Garcia’s death certificate.” Maybe it was 20 years of massive drug use with the Grateful Dead, or maybe he ate too much of the ice cream Ben & Jerry’s named after him, but according to Lonnie, ‘ol Jerry had 85% blockage of his main aorta. And that’s bad.
