RE: 2005 ALTWEEKLY AWARDS

|

A Fort Worth-writing FrontBurnervian takes me to task for pointing out the local-interest winners at the Altweekly Awards and overlooking a fine human being:

I noticed in your preface to the list of AAN “winners of local interest,” you didn’t mention that Fort Worth Weekly‘s Betty Brink won a first place for short form news writing, beating out submissions by two New Times-owned newspapers–the Houston Press and Westword. Recall that New Times dumped Fort Worth Weekly a couple of years ago and sold the newspaper to former Dallas Observer guy Lee Newquist. A bit of poetic justice for the Weekly methinks, and perhaps of some “local interest.”

Always enjoy reading Front Line, er, FrontBurner.

That last line is in reference to this and this. Sorry, Betty. Brain fart.
