There was a different kind of other-worldliness at the Meyerson this weekend, where the DSO performed Faure’s Requiem, conducted by David Davidson. In the program, an announcement was printed in all caps:
THIS WEEKEND OF CONCERTS IS DEDICATED TO THE MARRIAGE ON APRIL 2ND OF KIMBERLY SCHLEGEL AND JUSTIN WHITMAN
I presume the very large type indicated a very large gift, for which I am grateful. Maybe the Schlegel’s example could start a new trend in wedding gifts among the wealthy. Wouldn’t that be nice!
