Star-Telegram columnist Mitchell Schnurman took on the biggest business claim in North Texas yesterday–and nobody in Dallas should miss it. DFW Airport supporters regularly tell us that DFW is “the #1 economic engine in North Texas.” But is it? Schnurman questions the claim. For example, where does DFW get the numbers behind its assertion that it produces 220,000 area jobs? As for the “economic engine” claim, he writes:
“…if D/FW is our engine today, how come our economy did just fine in the past decade, and the airport’s numbers look like it’s 1995?”
Good question.
