Lee Harvey’s Dives Into the Pool Business

Cedars dive bar Lee Harvey’s is upping the ante on summer patio season by opening a swimming pool club—not a joke—in a lot next door. Expect cabanas and an outdoor bar with table service. A little more polished than the humble and hardscrabble bar that you’re used to.

Fuku Tries Again

David Chang’s Fuku had a difficult rollout when it first came to town almost exactly a year ago. The ghost kitchen-powered fried chicken concept relaunched for pick-up and delivery orders on April 13.

The goal of Fuku is to bring fast and casual dining back to multiple Dallas locations in Allen, Frisco, Grapevine, Irving and Richardson. Fuku’s menu derived from the secret chicken sando menu item at Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York. Its first go-round suffered from logistics and quality control issues, so hopefully the second time around will be smoother.

Expect spicy fried chicken sandos, chicken burgers, Fuku Fingers, and more.

Trinity Groves has a New CEO

Trinity Groves in West Dallas appointed a new CEO. Founder Phil Romano appointed the Beto & Son executive chef Julian Rodarte to the role earlier this month.

The 29-year-old will oversee the “restaurant incubator” that features his Beto & Son as well as other concepts like Cake Bar, Holy Crust Pizza, Kate Weiser Chocolate, and plenty more. Rodarte is planning on opening three new restaurants, according to the company. The first will go into the former Casa Rubia space later this year.

Meat Fight’s Meat Raffle

Meat Fight held its annual meat raffle on Sunday.

The event had simple rules: buy an $18 ticket, and receive a Community Beer, one Easy Slider, and two chances to get your hands on a fully-stocked meat and collaborative snacks cooler. The meat and snack coolers were provided from Dallas hometown favorites including Community Beer Co., Haute Sweets Patisserie, BBBop Seoul Kitchen, plus much more.

There were multiple opportunities to win the raffle, plus proceeds support people living with multiple sclerosis—including athletes with MS with coaching and equipment to participate in events such as the Dallas Marathon.
