Why Did Lucky’s Hot Chicken Cross the Road?

To open seven more locations throughout DFW. The local Nashville-style hot chicken joint will spin off more outposts, five of which are slated to open by early 2022. Four new Lucky’s will have drive-thrus. After the original Gaston Avenue spot, another sprouted in Highland Park, and next up is one in Oak Lawn in the former Einstein Bros. Bagels location at 3827 Lemmon Avenue. Richardson, Pleasant Grove, Farmers Branch, and Grand Prairie locations to follow.

Wild About Harry’s Says Goodbye for Now

In a social media post, the beloved Travis Street restaurant announced that its last day will be July 4th (Harry’s favorite day). “We are grateful to have had our home on Knox/Travis neighborhood for 25 years! We will continue to look for a new home, but at this time the spaces are limited due to construction, renewal and beautification of Knox Street,” the post said. Get your frozen custard fill and last slurp of malt shakes while you can. 

More Howdy Homemade Ice Cream for All

The Dallas ice creamery with a mission to employ adults with disabilities is in expansion mode: It has new franchise locations opening in Texas (McAllen, El Paso, and Katy), Asheville, North Carolina, Syracuse, N.Y., and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. This after nearly not making it through the pandemic last year. “Rapper Trae tha Truth just announced this week that he will be one of Howdy Homemade’s franchisees, and he’ll open a restaurant in Katy, a suburb of Houston,” reported Dallas Morning News. Its target open date is July 22.

Serious Pizza Slings Pie in Fort Worth

The Deep Ellum pizzeria has opened a location in the West 7th district of Fort Worth at 2728 West Seventh Street, which, per Eater Dallas, opened June 23. It’ll host a grand opening party on July 1 with delivery via horseback!

Indian Food Franchise Comes to Dallas

The Chicago-based EggHolic is bringing its version of Indian street food–style egg dishes in rice, curry, and sandwich forms. It has plans to open this fall at 7740 North MacArthur Boulevard in Irving. Peep Dallas CultureMap for some extra details.
