The Scoop: La Viuda Negra is Open, Eno’s Pizza Expands, and More

Your weekly helping of Dallas dining news.

La Viuda Negra is open:
Last year, we reported that mezcal bar La Viuda Negra would open at 2513 N. Fitzhugh Ave., near El Come Taco. You can read about it here. The opening was reportedly delayed due to some permit issues. A friend messaged me last week to let me know that it is now open. She also really likes it. I’ll check it out as soon as I recover from Memorial Day weekend. In the meantime, here are some Yelp reviews.

The Peach Truck is coming:
This is not a truck shaped like a peach. Rather, a truck that delivers peaches. (A truck shaped like a peach, which also delivers peaches would be a very fun thing, though, and I’m honestly a little disappointed that this isn’t one of those.) What is a truck filled with peaches doing in Dallas? Well, according to this release I have in front of me:

Kicking off its annual summer tour, The Peach Truck will make its Texas debut this weekend with stops across North Texas. The Peach Truck has been disrupting the produce industry since 2012 by delivering millions of pounds of fresh Georgia peaches directly to communities nationwide.

From June 1 through the end of July, the fruit delivery service will travel through nine different states, selling Georgia peaches and pecans, as well as “The Peach Truck Cookbook.” The first book by the company’s founders, husband-and-wife duo Jessica and Stephen Rose, the book will be available exclusively at all tour stops in advance of the June 25 release date, featuring 100 sweet and savory peach recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Full tour schedule is available here.

At all locations, peaches will be available for sale by the 25-pound half-bushel box for $42, and 10-ounce bags of pecans are available for $10.

This sounds like a smart way to promote a book. But it should be noted that Texas has it’s own delicious peaches. You can read about some of them here.

Eno’s Pizza Tavern to open in Coppell:
The pizza restaurant is opening at Cypress Waters on May 31.

Things you might like to know: the space is 6,500 square feet; there is an 1,800-square-foot rooftop patio; chef Aaron Hubbard is overseeing the menu; new items include a crispy cheese croquetta, a burger, some Keto-friendly options; Eno’s Side Dough, which delivers food to neighboring homes, opens next month.

The address: 3111 Olympus Blvd.

The hours: Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sundays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m

The end.
