The Cultured Cup Is Now Offering Tea Classes

Nerd out on all things tea.

Kyle Stewart of The Cultured Cup is a treasure. Those who attend the weekend open houses at the tea shop he co-owns with his partner Phil Krampetz, a coffee expert, appreciate the knowledge he dishes out as freely as he pours samples of oolongs and blossom-flecked Earl Greys.

I took his classes in the Certified Tea Specialist series last year and saw the extent to which tasting is a basic part of his philosophy. No surprise, then, that The Cultured Cup is launching a new education series: classes that allow you to dip into a specific area.

I can’t tell you how rare it is to be able to nerd out about flavor, but also learn the basics of evaluation and cultural context. One of the classes even delves into more esoteric areas, hitting on tea, dreams, and alchemy. This is all part of the ethos that I wrote about in a feature that came out in the January issue of the magazine. Nowhere else in Dallas can you learn about the ins and outs of tea.
