The latest work from Cry Havoc Theater Company opened on January 11. Since 2014, the youth theater company has created work around themes of social justice. Last year, they received the National Community Impact Award from Theatre for Young Audiences/USA.

For their latest production, From the Table: A Celebration of Food, Kelsey Leigh Ervi, Associate Artistic Eirector of WaterTower Theater in Addison has guest directed a play in which 11 teenage actors tackle the pivotal role that food plays in family and community and the complex ways life, love, and loss are communicated and held through ritual. A partnership with Café Momentum, the non-profit for at-risk youth, makes each performance a shared food experience as well.

Last Sunday, opening weekend, a fundraising brunch was held at Café Momentum.

You can still make the performances tomorrow (January 17 at 7:30 p.m.), Friday (January 18 at 8 p.m.), and Saturday (January 19 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.). All performances will be held at the South Dallas Cultural Center. Find tickets here.

I can think of no better reason to gather around the table.
