The 2018 State Fair of Texas is in its last week of operation for the season. Once again, the Texas Agriculture Department has brought dozens of products, made here in Texas, to the Food and Fiber building at Fair Park. The GO TEXAN General Store is stocked full of goods ranging from handmade soaps, seasonings, teas, cookies, and much more. The items are from all over Texas. Here are some favorites from areas surrounding Dallas.

SAAP LAP KITCHEN: Laotian-Style Beef Jerky
Produced right her in Dallas, SAAP’s mission is to share their family’s Laotian food and culture with others in their community. Their jerky comes in spicy, classic, hella hot, garlic bomb and spicy garlic bomb.

Joe Rub: Coffee Infused Meat Rub
The main ingredient in Joe Rub’s meat rub is coffee. The product is made in Carrollton and they keep it simple with cooking instructions such as “sprinkle on pork, beef, and chicken right before you cook it. Good in the oven, better in the smoker, amazing on the grill.”

Burelson’s Creamed Raw Honey: Blackberry Flavored
Burleson’s Creamed Raw Honey is made in Waxahachie and has four fun flavors: blackberry, maple, peach, and strawberry. Creamed honey is great with peanut butter on sandwiches, smeared on a hot biscuit, and anything else you can imagine. Have fun with it.

It’s Jerky Y’all: Plant-Based Jerky
Crossroads, Texas isn’t exactly in our backyard, but it’s close enough for us to gush over this vegan jerky. It’s Jerky Y’all “cuts out the middle critter by putting plant-based proteins in your belly right from the source.” It comes in three flavors: black pepper & sea salt, prickly pear teriyaki, and prickly pear chipotle.

These four products are just a few of our favorites in the GO Texan building this year. You will also find some old friends that we have mentioned in the past, like Hippos & Hasbrowns, La Casita chips and salsa, and Papa Perry’s Pepper Products.
