r&b—yes, all lowercase—is now open at The Statler Hotel. The fast-casual concept comes from Epic Food & Beverage and features ramen and bao dishes from chefs Angela Hernandez and Josh Bonneé. According to the release:
r&b features the simplicity of a modern Japanese ramen and bao house, with limited seating and a standing counter. Located on the ground floor of The Statler Hotel, adjacent to the recently opened Fine China, guests can access the restaurant from the street, making it an ideal spot for a quick lunch or late-night bite. The menu features a selection of seven playful takes on the bao—Chinese steamed buns filled with meat and/or vegetables (like the Chinese version of a taco) including the Cheesebao-ger with onion jam, American cheese and bread and butter pickles and the Edamame Falafel with jalapeño hummus, cucumber, pickled red onion and Sriracha yogurt. These airy, four-bite snacks are perfect for a light lunch or to enjoy with one of the restaurant’s four ramen bowls. Ramen options include the following:
Chicken Tskune: meatballs, kale, corn, mayu, ajitama and tori paitan broth
Bacon, Egg & Cheese: pork belly, soy maple, scallion, soft egg & cured yolk (brothless)
Tantanmen: spicy pork ragu, chili oil, sesame, mustard greens, bamboo, peanuts, soft egg & chicken broth
Chilled Tomato Mazemen: heirloom tomato, Thai basil, tare, koji tofu & nori (brothless)
r&b is located at 1914 Commerce St. and open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
