There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Baldo’s Scoop Shop Cafe to dish out ice cream next to SMU: The new ice cream shop and cafe from SMU grads, who operate under The Tritex Group, will open in the old Goff’s Hamburgers space at 6401 Hillcrest Ave. this September. According to the release:
The man behind the scoop, Executive Chef Aldo Sandoval, first got his start on the Dallas culinary scene as a sous chef at The Mansion on Turtle Creek and most recently the Head Pastry Chef at Uchi/Uchiba. An artist of many mediums, Sandoval channels his creativity by introducing savory flavors to classic ice creams.
“Our flavors are unexpected and engaging,” says Sandoval via press release. “From salted butter-bourbon to prickly pear jalapeño, we invite our guests on a culinary adventure. With our signature pairings, customers can feel free to explore various flavors outside their ice cream comfort zone.”
Ferris Wheelers partners with Brotherhood for the Fallen to host fundraiser: Ferris Wheelers Backyard & BBQ is partnering with Brotherhood for the Fallen (BFTF). The event will honor the memory of the fallen officers in the tragic July 7, 2016 shooting. According to the release:
Dallas native Ryan Berg and award-winning guitarist Mike “Junior” Clark will perform live throughout the night and Ferris Wheelers will host a silent auction to help BFTF reach their 2018 goal of $100,000. All of the donations, ticket and table sponsorship sales will also benefit BFTF.
Guests will be treated to complimentary valet upon arrival. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door. A $10 ticket (donation) includes one BFTF souvenir drinking cup, a $40 ticket includes one BFTF souvenir drinking cup and one dinner plate. Table sponsorships are also available. The event takes place on Saturday, July 7, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
